Cookie Policy
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies this website may use, what they are for, and how to change your choice at any time.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website can store in your browser. Similar technologies (such as local storage and device identifiers) work in a comparable way. Some are needed for the site to function; others are optional and need your permission first.
The categories we use
1. Strictly necessary
These are required for the website to work and to respect your privacy choices. They are always on because the site cannot function correctly without them, and they are not used for advertising or tracking.
| Purpose | What it does | Type / duration |
|---|---|---|
| Remembering your cookie choice | Stores whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies so we can honour it and not keep asking | Stored locally in your browser; persists until you clear it or change your choice |
| Basic site delivery and security | Lets our hosting provider serve pages reliably and protect the service | Operational; short-lived |
2. Advertising
These are set by our advertising partner to show and measure the side-column ads that keep this site free. They are not strictly necessary, so they are only used after you select “Accept”. If you reject, the ad space stays empty or shows a placeholder and these cookies are not set.
| Set by | Purpose | Type / duration |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdSense | Serving advertising, frequency control, and ad measurement | Third-party advertising cookies / identifiers; durations are set by the provider and can range from session-length to longer-lived |
We do not currently use a separate website-analytics product. If that ever changes, this policy and the consent banner will be updated first, and any analytics cookies will also require consent.
Named third parties
We use the following third-party services. They process data under their own policies — please review them:
| Provider | Used for | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdSense | Side-column advertising (only after consent) | Google cookies · Google Privacy Policy |
| Web3Forms | Delivering messages from the site's contact form to our private inbox | Web3Forms Privacy Policy |
The form provider above is listed for transparency about who handles your data; sending a feedback message does not itself set advertising cookies.
Non-essential cookies only after consent
While the site is ad-free, no banner is shown because there is nothing non-essential to consent to. When advertising is enabled, a non-modal banner will appear at the bottom of the page asking whether you want to allow advertising cookies. Accept and Reject will be given equal prominence, nothing will be pre-ticked, and no advertising or analytics cookies will be set until you actively choose “Accept”. Choosing “Reject” will keep only the strictly necessary items above, and the site still works.
How to change your consent
You can change your decision at any time:
- Use the “Change cookie choice” link in the footer of any page. It reopens the consent banner so you can switch between accepting and rejecting non-essential cookies.
- You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings; on your next visit you will be asked again.
- To stop existing advertising cookies, reject non-essential cookies via the footer link and clear your browser cookies for this site.
Withdrawing consent does not affect anything that happened before you withdrew it. For more on how we handle personal data, see the Privacy Policy.
